The pipeline lobby group said the convention will look at pipeline infrastructure in development of the national economy and regional growth, and their role in managing supply and demand of the various markets. "In particular, it will focus on supply from new sources, including from Timor Sea and PNG," APIA said.

APIA is calling on members and non-members alike to submit papers with a special request for presentations aimed at addressing the national benefits of pipeline infrastructure development, particularly in Northern Australia. APIA said papers should be forwarded by 20 December 2002.

Some of the other issues APIA said it would investigate at the convention include international developments, finance and investment, gas supply sources, environment, pipeline approval, safety, technical and research innovations, contractor issues, supplier issues as well as asset management.
