Delays for Essential in Victoria

ESSENTIAL Petroleum has resumed drilling operations at the East Wing-1 well in the onshore Otway ...

The company had earlier suspended drilling at the well after mechanical problems forced it to pull back the casing shoe at 580m to secure the hole.

The East Wing-1 well had reached a depth of 1916m in the Belfast Formation, above the targeted Waarre Formation, pior to the suspension. East Wing-1 has a planned total depth of about 2400m.

East Wing-1 in PEP 168 is targeting a gas accumulation in the Waarre C Sandstone and could potentially hold 5-10 billion cubic feet of recoverable gas, Essential said.

Essential owns 100% of the PEP 168 permit.
