The 1110km seismic survey over permits T/42P and T/43P is aimed at defining a number of high-potential leads identified in BSOC's database, the company said.
According to BSOC, the sub-basin is an underexplored grassroots exploration opportunity.
Located in the eastern sector of Tasmania's Bass Basin near Flinders Island, the Durroon is an intracratonic rift basin filled with 3000-5000m of Cretaceous-age sediments.
The survey is one of four Bass Basin surveys to be recorded in 2008 as part of a multi-operator consortium using the Pacific Titan vessel.
