The prospect was a shallow target identified by high quality 3D seismic and was interpreted to have a strong amplitude anomaly similar to thick gas pays in adjacent blocks.

However, Entek said electric logs run over the OCS-G 24420-2 well indicated the target zone at this location was water-wet.

As a result, the joint venture is moving to plug and abandon the well, which was drilled to a total depth of 4886m, as a duster.

Entek participated in the drilling of this well, after farming-in with a 15% to two blocks – A300 and A301 – in the outer continental shelf region of the GoM earlier this month.

Each block covers 5760 acres and both are in about 190 feet of water.
