JV partner, Cue Resources, told the ASX that the well, located in the eastern part of the PSC in 24m of water, would be drilled vertically to test sandstone objectives in a four-way dip closure.
Located about 70km east of the Jeruk oil discovery, Herbras-1 follows on from the JV’s previous exploration well, Dukuh-1, which was plugged and abandoned last week after failing to encounter significant hydrocarbons.
While the Sampang PSC also contains the Jeruk discovery, interests in the Jeruk block are different from those elsewhere in the permit.
Participants in the Sampang PSC are operator Santos, which holds a 40.5% stake, Singapore Petroleum Sampang (36%), Cue Sampang (13.5%) and PT Petrogas Oyong Jatim (10%).
