Mixed results from Tevet-2

The Tevet-2 appraisal and exploration well was drilled 2.5km from the original Tevet discovery well. It encountered a gross oil column of 37 metres underlying a 1.5m gas column.

Drilling at the site was continuing to test another potential reservoir below the main target. This second zone should be intersected in the next fortnight. The planned total depth of the well is about 3965 metres.

Last October, Tevet-1 found a 144m hydrocarbon column – a 70m gas leg overlying a 44m oil column. Based on that find, Woodside said Tevet could contain between 50 million and 100 million barrels of oil.

Meanwhile, during the last week two northern fault block Chinguetti production wells were successfully flowtested, meaning that all production wells have now flowed oil to surface, joint venture partner Hardman reported.

The ‘West Navigator’ drill ship is currently completing the final well preparation and clean-up work and is expected to complete these activities in the next week.
