Mixed results for Corybas

WHILE the Upper Cliff High Cliff Sandstone objective has been found to be water filled, the partners in the Corybas-1 well say they are encouraged by the “excellent reservoir development of this section in the area,” and with previously reported results from the Irwin River section. The well is now being completed over the gas bearing Irwin River section for future production testing.

A drilling report this morning said drill stem test 3 over the High Cliff Sandstone interval from 2584.4 to 2627 metres recovered formation water at a rate of about 100 barrels per day.

Operator Arc Energy said gas flows from the Irwin River section have shown the potential for conventional gas recoveries from the structure and were very encouraging for the potential commercialisation of the resource.

DST-2 over the interval 2410 to 2537 metres had previously produced a gas flow of approximately 3.7 mmcfd through a 1/2 inch choke with 610 psi surface pressure. DST-1 produced 100,000 mcfd at 40 psia.

Arc and Origin Energy are 50% partners in Corybas.
