New zones to be tested at Corybas-1

THE Corybas-1 exploration well, operated by Arc Energy and located in onshore Perth Basin Production Licence L2, has been drilled to a total depth of 2627 metres, and production testing of gas-bearing sands in the Irwin River Coal Measures has begun.

Drill stem test 3 was conducted over the High Cliff Sandstone between 2584.4 to 2627 metres. The test recovered formation water at a rate of about 100 barrels per day.

The High Cliff Sandstone was subsequently isolated with a cement plug and a liner set and cemented over the Irwin River Coal Measures.

Two zones in the Irwin River Coal Measures will be perforated between the intervals 2548-2553.5 metres and 2558-2567.5 metres. These zones, which were not previously tested by open-hole DST, will then be flow tested for further evaluation of the commercial significance of this new field gas discovery.

Participants in L1 and L2 (excluding the Dongara, Mondarra and Yardarino fields) and Corybas 1 are Arc Energy Limited (operator) 50% and Origin subsidiary, Origin Energy Developments Pty Limited, 50%.
