Orchard kicks off US drilling program

Junior explorer Orchard Petroleum has finally kicked off its 2003 US drilling program after a two month delay due to bad weather conditions in the Sacramento Basin, onshore California.

Orchard said Mackert 4-31 was spudded on the weekend and is currently drilling at 1000ft ahead toward the target depth of 3,700 ft. The well is targeting the 10-15 billion cubic feet Mackert Prospect.

According to Orchard executive director, Stephen Warrener, drilling results should be known in about seven days.

The participants in the well are Orchard Petroleum (50%) and Nahabedian Exploration Group LLC (50%).
