ConocoPhillips' well extends Suban gasfield

US oil giant ConocoPhillips has successfully tested a delineation well on the southwest flank of the Suban gasfield in South Sumatra, Indonesia.

The well, spudded in October last year, encountered a gross pay section in excess of 400m thick and tested at a maximum rate of 35 million standard cubic feet per day and 163 barrels of condensate per day.

ConocoPhillips said it is continuing to appraise and develop the Suban gasfield. Gas from the field is currently being sold to Caltex's Duri steamflood project located in central Sumatra.
