Jingemia-2 spudded

Located in EP 413, in the North Perth Basin, Western Australia the well will be directionally drilled to intersect the Dongara reservoir sands 1km south east of the discovery hole, and is planned to define the oil-water contact in the southern extent of the field.

If a significant column is intersected the well could increase the estimated reserves from 5mmbbl to 9mmbbl. Even if the well is successful it is likely that it will be used as a water injection well to supply pressure for Jingemia-1

The drilling activity at Jingemia follows the conclusion of the Jingemia-1 Extended Production Test (EPT) where oil flow rates of between 1,000 and 1,900 barrels per day were recorded over the 3 month test period.

During the EPT, the Jingemia-1 well produced in excess of 123,000 barrels of oil, with no water.

"The success of the Jingemia Extended Production Test has helped confirm the oil reserves in the Jingemia oil field and has helped justify this additional activity," said AWE managing director Bruce Phillips.

Participants in EP 413 and the Jingemia-2 well are AWE (Perth Basin) 15.245%, Origin Energy (operator) 49.189%, Hardman Oil & Gas 22.376%, Voyager Energy 6.270%, Victoria Petroleum 5.000%, Norwest Energy 1.278%, Roc Oil (WA) 0.250%, ARC Energy 0.250%, John Kevin Geary 0.142%.
