Taunton 3 confirms oil discovery

The Carnarvon Basin continues to reward its small structure disciples after the Taunton-3 apprais...

The partners today announced a net oil column of some 5m in the primary objective, around 1.6km northeast of the discovery well, Taunton-2.

The reservoir was fully cored and these initial results are expected to be confirmed, once the core data is available.

Taunton-3 reached a total depth of 1432m and is currently being plugged back, prior to sidetracking. The sidetrack well is designed to intersect the reservoir in a downdip position, to confirm the oil water contact for the Taunton Field inferred from pressure data. It is expected to take four days to reach total depth and evaluate results.

Partners are Apache (Operator) 80 % (Operator), Pan Pacific 10 % and Tap 10 %.
