Canyon Offshore heads to the bottom of the GoM

Canyon Offshore will be heading to the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico after being awarded a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) services contract on the world's deepest operating production project.

The three-field, King's Peak, Aconcagua and Camden Hills co-operative development in the Mississippi Canyon came on stream last September, with its deepest well lying below 7300 feet of Gulf of Mexico water.

The previous record, held at Brazil's Roncador field (6080 feet), and an even bigger jump compared with the main subsea showcase in the Gulf to date - Shell's Mensa project in 5400 feet.

Canyon will provide integrated ROV and DP vessel services with an initial work schedule that includes a detailed baseline CP and visual survey of the East and West flowlines, and the main umbilical and methanol coiled tubing lines.

The company will also replace subsea chemical injection valves and undertake other field maintenance and intervention tasks as required.
