Second Harriet JV rig spuds Gipsy-3

The Gipsy-3 appraisal well, located in TL/1 15km east of Varanus Island and 1.2km south of the Gipsy-1 oil discovery, was spudded by the Harriet JV partners on Sunday

Gipsy-3 is the first of several wells to be drilled by the second drilling rig, the ENSCO 53, over the next two months.

Gipsy-3 is being drilled as a vertical pilot well to appraise a possible southerly extension of the oil pool at the North Rankin Formation level. In addition, the well will explore deeper secondary objectives within the Brigadier and Mungaroo Formations, at which levels oil and gas has been discovered in other wells within the Gipsy/Rose/Lee group of fields.

Gipsy-3 will appraise a possible additional 5mmbbls of oil and should the well be successful, a development well would be immediately sidetracked out of the existing subsea wellhead at North Gispy-2H for immediate production.

The Harriet Joint Venture partners include Tap Oil 12.2229%, Apache Energy (operator) 68.5%, Kufpec Australia 19.2771%.
