Alliance Energy drops power entry, looks to focus on mining

Perth-based Alliance Energy has dropped its planned entry into the power generation and switchgear market and will instead concentrate on mineral exploration in South Australia's Gawler Craton.

The company has told the stock exchange today it has secured three high quality exploration projects in SA's Gawler and Curnamona Cratons, where it plans a focused search for Olympic Dam-style mineralisation.

Last month, the company announced a working prototype of the network power controller, which was acquired last year, could not be built in time and the project has been suspended.

The Australian-developed technology aimed to increase the energy efficiency of commercial buildings by correcting power factor and harmonic distortions in building electrical systems, however research and development could not translate it into reality.
