Eastern Star shines on CSM wells

COAL seam methane developer Eastern Star Gas says the Dewhurst-3 and 4 wells in PEL 238, New South Wales, have intersected coal within the primary Bohena seam target.

Eastern Star said the Dewhurst-3 reached a total depth of 885m after intersecting 16.53m of coal in the Bohena seam, and has been suspended pending re-completion as a pressure monitoring well.

The Dewhurst-4 well intersected 15.57m of coal in the Bohena seam after reaching a depth of 1026.6m.

Eastern Star says once the well reaches total depth, it will conduct drill stem tests to evaluate the permeability of the Hoskissons and Bohena coal seams.

Dewhurst-4 is the third well of the 20 well exploration and appraisal core hole drilling program in PEL 238.

The well is being drilled by the McDermott rig 27.

Eastern Star is operator and has a 65% interest in PEL 238. Gastar Exploration holds the remaining 35%.
