QGC said the Isabella-1 well spudded on June 6 intersected 32.5m of coal in the Juandah and Taroom measures after reaching a total depth of about 617m.
The well in ATP 648P is part of an extended exploration program designed to adequately evaluate the CSM potential in the area.
According to the company, Isabella-1 has been suspended pending the arrival of a workover rig from the Jammat-4 well.
Jammat-4 was spudded on June 13 and intersected 36.5m of coal in the two coal measures after reaching total depth of 726m.
The Des Caling Rig-2 is carrying out wireline logging operations before moving to Isabella-1.
After wireline logging in both wells, three drill stem tests will be carried out to evaluate the permeability of the coal measures.
In ATP 620P, the Codie-12 also intersected 24.2m of coal in the Juandah and Taroom coal measures after reaching total depth of 854m.
QGC said the well has been suspended awaiting the arrival of the Ensign International Energy Services Rig 34.
Rig 34 is drilling the Codie-13 well, spudded on June 14.
After wireline logging in both wells, all significant seams in the two coal measures will be under-reamed and 7-inch pre-perforated casing will be set.
QGC has a 55% interest in ATP 648P and a 47.5% interest in ATP 620P.
