Having reached a total depth of 2796m, the Flax-6 well in Cooper Basin permit PEL 133 has also been wireline logged and run with production casing.
Preliminary analysis of wireline logs indicates the well has encountered 8m of oil pay in the basal Pachawarra-Tirrawarra section and up to 4m of oil pay in the middle and upper Patchawarra section.
In addition, the company said the existence of trace live oil fluorescence in a sidewall core of the underlying Merrimelia Formation in combination with wireline log analysis and mudlog shows suggests a deepening of the LKO by about 25m.
The current LKO for the field was recorded in Flax East-1 and so Innamincka said it felt encouraged to evaluate this new possibility with further drilling and testing.
Flax-6 is part of a five-well program aimed at appraising the Flax and Juniper fields and exploring for an oil accumulation north of the Yarrow field.
The first well of the program, Flax 5 has been cased as a future oil producer.
Depending on access and local weather, Innamincka plans to spend the next four days moving a rig to the Yarrow North-1 exploration well site.
Innamincka is operator and holds a 75% stake in the Flax-Juniper oil discovery and PEL 103, while partner SCGAU holds the remaining 25%.
