Roc wades offshore in WA, China

In a drilling update, the company said the Premium Wilcraft jack-up rig has started drilling the Frankland-2 appraisal well, in WA-286-P, about 1km northeast of last year’s Frankland-1 gas discovery.

Drilling of Frankland-2 is expected to reach a total depth of 2278m at month-end.

Roc holds a 37.5% stake in WA-286-P, while Arc Energy has 30%, AWE has 27.5% and CIECO has 5%.

Meanwhile in China, Roc said that drilling has started on the Wei 6-12E exploration well on a stratigraphic structural prospect, about 1.7km east of the Wei 6-12S-1 oil discovery in Block 22-12.

As the second in a three-well program, Wei 6-12E-1 is also expected to reach a total depth of 2520m at the end of the month.

The Block 22-12 joint venture comprises Roc Oil with a 40% stake, Horizon Oil (30%), Petsec Energy (25%) and First Australian Resources (5%).
