OILEX says its offshore Indonesian exploration well, Pendalian-3, has flow-tested commercial quantities of oil from two pay zones.

Sumatra well looks commercial: Oilex

Operator PT Sumatera Persada Energi reported a maximum flow potential of 916 barrels of oil per day for the interval tested by the fourth drill stem test.

Production rates of 400-650bopd are expected from this interval.

In addition, the interval tested by the third drill stem test has a maximum flow rate of 1285bopd, with production rates of 700-900bopd expected.

These results would see the Pendalian-3 produce anywhere between 1100bopd and 1550bopd from these two intervals.

The joint venture intends to do a fifth production test over the shallowest potential oil-bearing interval in the well, with results expected this week.

Participants in the West Kampar PSC are: Sumatera Persada Energi (55%) and Oilex (45%).
