Wireline logging of the well showed it had intersected 13 feet of pay in the Upper Bahariya formation while the Kharita formation was interpreted as being water-bearing.
The well, drilled to a total depth of 3978m, is now being plugged and abandoned.
The rig will move to the Salma prospect about 5km west of Raheek-1.
It will target the Bahariya and Kharita formations as well as the Alam el Bueib formation which is a prolific reservoir elsewhere in the Western Desert of Egypt.
The participants in Rana-1 are: Sipetrol International 50.5% (operator) and Oil Search 49.5%.
Menawhile, Oil Search said it is running logs at its West Ghobata-1 well in Yemen after reaching a total depth of 2301m.
The well, located about 2.5km southwest of the Ghobata-1 well targets the Qishn Clastics, with secondary objectives in the Lam, Kuhlan Sandstone and fracture Basement.
Participants in Block 49 are operator CCC (17.07%), Oil Search (42.33%), Virgin Resources (25.6%) and The Yemen Company (15%).
Oil Search added it is drilling ahead at the West Zeit-X1 exploration well in Egypt and the Korobosea-1 gas exploration well in Papua New Guinea.
