DRILLING

Cleansweep-1 spuds

STUART Petroleum will today start drilling the Cleansweep-1 wildcat – its first well as operator of the PEL 100 permit in the Cooper Basin.

Cleansweep-1 spuds

Cleansweep-1 is targeting 950,000 barrels of oil at the P50 level of confidence in the Paning, Birkhead-Hutton and Poolowanna Formations, with secondary potential in the Tinchoo Formation as a secondary target.

The Adelaide-based company took over operatorship and acquired 50% in the permit in May from the other partners Cooper Energy, Sundance Energy, Enterprise Energy and Liberty Petroleum.

Cooper Energy is also participating in drilling another Cooper Basin well – the Callawonga-4 appraisal well, in PEL 92, operated by Beach Petroleum.

Spudded yesterday, the well is being drilled to test the extension of the Namur reservoir, east of the Callawonga oil field.

Callawonga-4 is the last well in a three-well drilling program to appraise and develop the oil field, which is producing from the Namur reservoir from the Callawonga-1 discovery well.

The subsequent Callawonga-2 and Callawonga-3 wells are expected to be put on production at month-end.
