Strike, Comet knuckle down in Colorado

COLORADO partners Comet Ridge and Strike Oil are this week making progress at their Tow Creek and Florence projects, located in Routt County and Fremont County respectively.

At Tow Creek, Strike said operator Comet was about to revisit the Coal View Unit 31-4 well, which was drilled late last year to a depth of 6600 feet (2013 metres) after intersecting 245 feet of oil and gas shows in the main objective interpreted to be “moderately to intensely” fractured.

However, freezing temperatures caused the drill pipe became irretrievably stuck in the well while Comet was trying to complete it.

As a result, Comet plans to drill a sidetrack and complete the well for testing if similar oil and gas shows are encountered.

The sidetrack is targeting 200,000 to 500,000 barrels of recoverable oil.

At Florence, the partners will immediately start interpreting an initial set of processed data from the recently-completed 3D seismic shoot over the oil field.

The data will identify suitable locations for infill drilling, expected to start in the last quarter of the year.
