Origin makes new Surat gas discoveries

ORIGIN Energy says two of its 100%-owned exploration wells have discovered new gas pools in the Surat Basin, Queensland.

The Ogilvie Creek-1 well in PL 227 flowed 400,000 cubic feet per day of gas on test from the upper Tinowon Formation at a depth of 2060-2073m.

A better result was achieved at PL 174’s Ogilvie Creek-2 well, which flowed 5.1 million cfd of gas from the basal Rewan Group over the interval 1843-1870m.

Origin said the Ogilvie Creek-1 well was deliberately drilled on the flank of the Ogilvie Creek structure, while Ogilvie Creek-2 was drilled on the crest.

Pressure data indicates the wells tested separate gas accumulations, the Sydney-based company said.

Both wells will now be completed for production and tied-in to existing facilities at the nearby Myall Creek field in PL 174.
