Early gas shows for East Flour Bluff

THE partners in the East Flour Bluff (EFB) D-24 well have reported gas shows and drilling breaks over an 81 metre sand section, well above the historical production horizons for the field.

Early gas shows for East Flour Bluff

“A gas show zone with coincident drilling breaks (increase in drilling speed) and peaks to 12% total gas was recorded in poorly consolidated tan coloured sand over an 81m interval from 767 to 847m measured depth),” said a Victoria Petroleum drilling report.

"A further gas peak of 1.8% with coincident drilling break was recorded over 11m from 881m (measured depth).

“These shallow gas shows occur well above the historical gas production sands in the East Flour Bluff Field and the much deeper target for this well. The shows will be evaluated when wire-line logs are run after the well reaches the next casing point at about 3,110m.”

Operator Texas Crude Energy Inc said the D-24 well was at 934 metres measured depth and drilling ahead directionally in 12.25-inch hole in sand to second casing point at 3,109 metres measured depth just above the top of the target zone at 3,210 metres measured depth.

The EFB D-24 well is located in the East Flour Bluff gas field and is designed to test four main “J” sands reservoirs and potential reservoirs as the primary target and 3 potential reservoirs in the deeper “K” sands.

Participants' working interests (through local subsidiaries where applicable) are: Sun Resources NL 12.5%, Victoria Petroleum Limited 12.5%, Aurora Oil & Gas 12.5% (formerly Tony Barlow Australia), Texas Crude Energy Inc (operator) 25% and US private interests 37.5%.
