Roma CBM results encourage partners

SANTOS and Sunshine Gas have reported encouraging early gas flows from their Raslie-6 coal-bed methane well, located in PL5, Queensland.

A drilling report said the CBM well initially flowed at up to 3 million cubic feet per day after being perforated and was last reported as flowing up to 0.7 million cfd.

The well is part of the Roma shallow gas program, which kicked off last November targeting the Walloon Coal Measures in existing wells already connected to gas pipeline infrastructure.

The report also said the Pleasant Hills-3 well, which along with Pleasant Hills-21 is on a three month de-watering program, produced a gas flare to surface after gas and water influx into the well bore.

The remaining wells in the program are Pleasant Hills-1 and Mayfield-1.

Sunshine Gas said the gas produced would go towards existing gas sale contracts.
