Corowa P&Ad

SANTOS' Corowa East-1 well has failed in its attempt to follow up the original oil discovery of 1971, with a report the Carnarvon Basin well failed to intersect any hydrocarbons.

A statement from junior partner Beach Petroleum said the well was being plugged and abandoned at 1670 metres.

The WA-264-P well was an attempt to further add to the Corowa-1 discovery which flowed 4534 barrels of oil per day from an 11 metre sandstone section in 2001.

Interests are Santos Offshore Pty Ltd 50% (operator), Kufpec Australia Pty Ltd 33.33%, Beach Petroleum Ltd 16.67%.
