Voyager, a junior partner in the Origin-operated WA-226-P lease, will also be involved in several other new Perth Basin exploration and development wells between now and February 2005.
Its program includes Hadda-1 in WA-325-P, Flying Foam-1 in WA-327-P and two development/appraisal wells – Cliff Head-5 and Cliff Head-6 – in the Cliff Head oil field.
Another well might be drilled on the 46 million barrel potential Blue Jacket prospect (formerly Corona) in the south of WA-325-P.
“We have not decided 100% on Blue Jacket yet,” Voyager managing director John Beggs told EnergyReview.Net.
“We shot new seismic over it to make the decision. This data won’t be available until later this month.”
Fiddich-1 is being drilled using the floating drill rig Sedco-703. All other wells will be drilled by jack-up rig Ensco-56 between now and February.
Fiddich-1 is about 300km north-west of the Cliff Head field and is in 160 metres of water. It will test a large structure with potential for recoverable reserves of 100 million barrels.
As the Late Permian sandstone primary target is at a depth of just 1300 metres drilling to total depth should take just four or five days, Voyager said.
