“Following the analysis of data received while drilling which indicates the presence of approximately 96 metres of net gas bearing sands over an interval from 2,022 – 2,284 metres measured depth with adequate porosity, Nexus and its partner Apache have decided to proceed with a drill stem testing program,” said a Nexus drilling report released this morning.

“The purpose of the testing program is to determine the flow rate potential of the gas sands, the formation pressures and obtain gas compositional data as a critical step towards establishing the commercial viability of the Longtom gas discovery,” the company said.

The Longtom-2 well has drilled to a final total depth of 2,422.5 metres having drilled an additional 28.5 metres than was originally planned.

The well is being drilled by the Ocean Patriot.
