Gas shows at Trefoil wildcat

THE Trefoil-1 offshore Tasmania gas exploration well has recorded good gas shows after encountering the top of the main Eastern View Coal Measures reservoir at a depth of 2732m below the rotary table.

The significance of the gas shows and the quality of the reservoir will be assessed following the interpretation of the core and electric log data.

Planned total depth of the well is 3154mRT. The objective reservoirs are sandstones in the Eastern View Coal Measures reservoir that are the same agge as the main Yolla Field gas reservoirs.

The well is located in the Bass Strait offshore exploration permit T/18P. Participants in T/18P are Origin Energy 41.4%, AWE Petroleum 22.6%, CalEnergy Gas (Australia) Ltd 23.5% and Wandoo Petroleum 12.5%.
