Nexus said the well had encountered the top of the Admiral Formation sandstones as prognosed and had intersected about 31 metres of gross interval with gas shows.
It said there were elevated resistivity readings over an interval 2,113 – 2,144 metres measured depth (MD). A drilling report said further evaluation of this section was required to determine the quality of the sands and their ability to flow gas at commercial rates.
Approximately 300 metres of the Admiral Formation remains unpenetrated.
Nexus chief Ian Tchacos said although the results were encouraging it was early days yet and cautioned against making too many assumptions from the data to date.
“We’ll know more in two days when we get to target depth,” Tchacos told EnergyReview.Net.
The well was at 2,200m with the target depth slated for 2,500m where it will be fully evaluated for around 48 hours with wire-line logging tools and the results analysed.
