Inshore Bass Strait well spuds

THE Martha-1 exploration well in Bass Strait has been spudded and on a trouble-free basis is expected to take about 18 days to reach its planned total depth of 1,850 metres.

Martha-1 is about 18km north of the Casino gas field. Its primary objective is the Waarre Sandstone, which is the main gas-bearing interval in the nearby Casino field.

The Martha Prospect is only a few kilometres off the Victorian coast and is close to existing pipelines.

Participants in VIC/P 44 are: Santos (operator) 50%, Peedamullah Petroleum Pty Ltd (AWE) 25% and Mittwell Energy Resources Pty Ltd (Mitsui) 25%.
