Three wells to appraise Mulberry discovery

Drillsearch Energy Ltd has revealed three appraisal wells will be drilled in its impending drilling program at the ATP 299P JV in Tintaburra Block, Queensland. The wells will be used, according to the company, to “test and extend the new oil field discovered by the Mulberry-1 well”.

Mulberry-1 is currently producing 600 bopd.

In a press release Drillsearch revealed the primary purpose of the drilling program is to “drill, complete and connect Mulberry-2, 3 and 4, as oil producers”, provide data for future in-fill and delineation drilling and to “produce Birkhead oil” from each well.

Its secondary purpose is to explore the potential of the Wyandra, Murta and Westbourne Formations. Mulberry-2 will be drilled to a TD of 1,308 metres, Mulberry-3 to 1,309 metres and Mulberry-4 to 1,326 metres.

According to Drillsearch, “The appraisal wells are designed to achieve additional oil production and to test the extent of the oil pool in the Birkhead 11-77 sand discovered in Mulberry 1 [and] current timing for commencement of this drilling is November, 2004.”

Santos is the operator of the Tintaburra Block and Drillsearch holds a 10% stake in the JV.
