Murta Fm yields shows for Ventura-1

It is early days yet but Victoria Petroleum may have made another discovery, after it announced it was running a drill stem test over a 25.5 metre interval in the Ventura-1 well in response to oil shows observed in the secondary target Murta Formation.

Ventura-1 is in PEL 115, in the South Australian section of the Cooper Basin and has a planned total depth of 2091 metres. It was testing the Murta Fm at 1345m.

Ventura-1 is interpreted from seismic data to have a potential between 5 million barrels up to a maximum of 17 million barrels of oil in target Jurassic sands, if oil is present. The Ventura Prospect lies 5 kilometres to the southwest of the Santos-operated Jurassic Narcoonowie Oil Field.

Interests are Victoria Petroleum N.L (operator) 40%, Roma Petroleum N.L. 20%, Impress Ventures Ltd 15%, Entek Energy Ltd 12.5%, Tacnas Pty Ltd 12.5%.
