New Mauritanian wildcat comes in

The drill ship “Stena Tay” was now running wireline logs and after the results are reported the well will be plugged and abandoned as planned. The well was drilled to a total depth of 2715 metres.

Appraisal drilling on the Tiof discovery was successful also with Tiof-3 yielding oil and gas intervals. “Preliminary assessment of logs acquired while drilling indicate the presence of oil in the target interval,” said a company statement.

Once logged the well would be sidetracked, cored and tested for reservoir characteristics. The Stena Tay would then drill the Dorade-1 well.

The news pushed operator Woodside over the $20 mark, the stock trading currently at $20.11 after reaching $20.25 earlier today.

Hardman surged also, trading at $2.31 at press time. Minor partner Roc Oil has pushed higher to $1.97.
