Safety issue halts Arwon

Drilling at the Arwon-1 well in PEL 93 has been halted due to a safety issue on the Hunt Energy R...

Cooper Energy said the well control system for the Hunt 3 drilling rig has been sent to Adelaide for repair. The rig remains on location, and the well has been safely cased with 9-5/8” casing.

The well control system needed to be overhauled and the hydraulic system repaired, according to the Cooper Energy report. A decision in respect of the timing of resumption of operations is dependent upon resolution of the mechanical problems with the present drilling equipment.

PEL93 is approximately 55 km south-west of the Moomba oil and gas facilities and 2.5km northeast of the Worrior Oil Field.

Interests are Stuart Petroleum (88.88%) and Cooper Energy (11.2%).
