The four are in WA-325-P (the Corona prospect), WA-327-P (Flying Foam prospect), and two Cliff Head development wells which have been brought forward: Cliff Head-5 and Cliff Head-6.
The Ensco 56 jack up, already in place to handle Hadda-1, may be used to handle the wells in WA-325-P and WA-327-P. All three are in the Perth Basin.
According to Voyager, “Two additional exploration wells targeting the 42 million barrel potential Corona structure also in WA-325-P and the 31 million barrel potential Flying Foam structure in WA-327- P are under consideration by the respective joint ventures.” The company expects the final decision on the two exploration wells to be reached by sometime next week.
Also, since the Ensco 56 will be at Perth Basin to handle Hadda-1 and the possible other two appraisal wells, the jack up may be used for the Cliff Head-5 and 6 exploratory wells; subject to availability and the necessary approvals.
In a statement Voyager said, “Cliff Head-5 is at a crestal location on the southeast part of the field which so far has only been penetrated at its western edge by the field discovery well, Cliff Head-1. The new well is being designed as a ‘pathfinder well’ to assist in planning of a long reach horizontal well to be drilled from the unmanned platform to drain that part of the field. This well is also expected to move oil reserves from the probable to proved category but because it is a pilot well it will not be completed for production regardless of results.”
“Cliff Head-6 is at a crestal location on the eastern end of the main horst area of the field [and] this well will be drilled vertically in a position close to the planned platform location and is expected to be completed and suspended for future tieback to the facilities as an oil producer. Operator Roc Oil advises that both wells should be drilled in January immediately prior to the field final investment decision (FID) and that first oil is scheduled for the end of 2005,” it added.
Fiddich-1 in WA-26-P will not be augmented by an additional drilling program. It is still slated for spudding in October 2004 by the Sedco 703.
