CNOOC makes Bohai Bay discovery

In a statement the company said, “JZ21-1S-1 was drilled to a total depth around 2,400 metres in 20 metres of water. On 7.94mm and 7.14mm chokes, the well flowed about 700 and 500 barrels of oil equivalent per day respectively during two drill stem tests.”

According to CNOOC Ltd official Xiao Zongwei, “The new oil well is expected to produce about 1,200 barrels of oil daily from two layers, with 700 barrels from the first layer and 500 barrels from the second layer.”

Xiao did not elaborate further. CNOOC Ltd is the operator of the well.
