Cairn proves up Mangala field

In a statement the company said, “Final tests [revealed] a continuous reservoir of crude throughout the field. The final Mangala-5 and Mangala-6 appraisal wells revealed several oil columns of high quality oil [and] an interference test [has] established reservoir connectivity throughout the field.”

According to CEO Bill Gammell, “We have now confirmed continuity and connectivity of excellent reservoirs across the field, which is positive for the determination of ultimate recovery.”

Neither Gammell nor Cairn elaborated further. However, the company did announce in March it estimated oil-in-place at between 450 million to 1.1 billion barrels.

It also said it has begun a seismic survey program on the area, which is due for completion by the end of the year.
