The company made two discoveries in the Western section of the South China. The first, Wildcat Weizhou 11-1N-1, was drilled on a WZ 11-1N structure within the existing Weizhou field and has logging data that shows around 50 metres of oil zone. The second, Songtao 24-1-1, was drilled on the ST 24-1 structure and showed oil and gas shows of significant geological importance. No drill depth was mentioned.
In the West Madura PSC, CNOOC made three oil and gas discoveries. Well KE 38-1 hit 54.5 feet of oil pay and 642.5 feet of gas pay in the Kujung I carbonate. The drill stem test showed flows of 935 barrels of oil and 0.34 million cubic feet of gas per day. The company also confirmed that wells KE 54-1 and KE 32-1 also showed substantial oil and gas pays within the same Kujung I formation.
CNOOC confirmed that, whilst it has a 100% stake in both offshore China discoveries, its stake in the three East Java discoveries were only around 25% each.
