Cairn nets 110m in India

Cairn Energy Plc has encountered 110 net metres of high-quality oil-bearing Fatehgarh sands at it...

In a statement the company said, “Mangala-4 was drilled 1.75 km updip from Mangala-2 and 1.5 km from Mangala-1, and Mangala-4 statistics were consistent with the oil water contact determined in other Mangala wells.”

According to Cairn’s Chief Executive Bill Gammell, “A seven day interference test between Mangala-1 and Mangala-4 established both vertical reservoir continuity and lateral connectivity between the two [and] reinforces our confidence for the future Mangala development.”

The company also plans to spud the Mangala-5 and 6 wells later this month. The two wells are being drilled between the Mangala-1 and 3 drilling program.
