Work started on 19 April and by the following day, the 36-inch hole has been drilled and cased to a depth of 891 metres. Operator BHP Biliton is pushing on ahead to drill the 17½ inch hole section.
The Atwood Eagle semi-submersible drilling rig is being used to drill the well, which is in water depth of around 825 metres. Total depth of the well is planned for 2,970 metres.
The well is located in the Exmouth Sub-basin and is around 2.3 km southwest of the Eskdale-1 well.
BHP is the operator. Both BHP and Woodside hold a 50% stake each in the JV.
