The partners are now sidetracking from the same well bore to test another prospect, Kadinsky.

The Monet-1 discovery well is only five kilometres away from the Harriet Alpha platform and according to a company statement released yesterday, “Electric logs indicate the well has intersected a 20 metre gross oil column.”

“The Monet-1 well has been plugged and abandoned as planned. The well will now be sidetracked to address another nearby prospect (Kadinsky) some 2 kilometres to the north of Monet.

Both Monet and Kadinsky are within 4 kilometres of the existing production facilities on Varanus Island. Once the results of Kadinsky are known, Tap said development options will be reviewed to ensure early oil production.
