Wombat sniffs gas, keeps digging

Chairman Robert Annells said this first discovery of gas in the Golden Beach Formation, which flowed 25,000 cubic feet per day, would indicate a better reservoir would be found at depth, correlating with the nearby Merriman-1 well, which was drilled by Arco in the 1960s.

The well was at 1449 metres and reaming to the bottom to recommence drilling.
