Canadians begin first Syrian horizontal well

The block in question has estimated reserves of around 2.4 billion barrels of oil in place and spudding of the well is scheduled for mid-April this year.

Tanganyika plans to drill between two to six more horizontal wells from the same drilling pad. The anticipated length of the horizontal section in each of the wells is between 1,000 metres to 1,500 metres.

Oudeh field is currently producing around 1,400 bpd and the Canadian firm is waiting for the delivery of higher capacity downhole pumps to install in existing wells which should increase production potential by another 10%.
