Felicia-1 dry as Gipsy-3 shows good signs

The Harriet Joint Venture has had an up-and-down week, recording hydrocarbon shows in the Gipsy-3 well while having to plug and abandon the Felicia-1 well.

Gipsy-3, located in TL/1, 15km east of Varanus Island and 1.2km south of the Gipsy 1 oil discovery, intersected the North Rankin reservoir 32m higher than in the Gipsy-1 oil production well to the north and good hydrocarbon shows were noted over a 38m interval.

Further wireline operations including formation pressure readings and fluid sampling will be required to confirm the presence of a hydrocarbon column, establish the nature of hydrocarbons present and determine reservoir properties.

The well will now continue to drill ahead to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th target intervals to evaluate the Brigadier, Mungaroo "A" and Mungaroo "B" sands.

Felicia-1 was drilled to a total depth of 1,872m and logs indicated that no hydrocarbons are present. The Ensco-56 rig will now drill another two Flag Sandstone wells, the North Pedirka-1 exploration well and the Hoover-2 development well, from the Victoria Platform.

The Harriet Joint Venture partners are Tap Oil 12.2229%, Apache Energy (operator) 68.5% and Kufpec Australia 19.2771%.
