The well was targetting a bypassed oil leg missed when drilling the previous Taunton-1 well in TL2.

Junior partner Pan Pacific (10%) said the discovery yielded a net four metre interval of oil bearings sands, which they said contained an estimated 3.5 mmbo. The well is six kilometres from Airlie Island.

The partners will drill a horizontal production sidetrack well once the current wireline logging is completed.
