Sun shines on Lacerta

LACERTA operator Sunshine Gas says coal seam methane production rates at the Bowen Basin pilot project have reached 1.27 million cubic feet of gas per day without any sign of output leveling off.

The 12 completed CSM production wells have continued to perform in line with expectations, according to Sunshine managing director Tony Gilby.

“Total field production has reached about 1.27 million cubic feet per day of gas, which means we are currently flaring at a rate equivalent to approximately half a petajoule of gas a year,” he said.

The remaining four pilot production wells are in various stages of being brought on-line.

“Each of the completed pilot wells now completed show steadily increasing gas-flow rates and there is currently no indication of any levelling off of production,” Gilby said.

“This increasing gas production profile, along with the observed gas-flow rates, are interpreted to be very good signs for Lacerta.”

Gilby said Sunshine was progressing negotiations to commercialise the project with potential gas buyers.
