The Brisbane-based company said the first CSM target covered an area of about 300 square kilometres with over 120 Mineral Resources Tasmania exploration holes already drilled.
Pure said the drilling operations at the Fingal-55 and 41 wells will be completed in two stages to take advantage of drill rig availability.
Stage 1, which involved drilling topholes for the two wells to a depth of circa 200m meters, is now complete. Stage 2, expected to begin later this quarter, will involve the drilling of the core holes.
“If the core holes prove gas content and permeability, the company plans to quickly move into pilot and production, leveraging the existing boreholes to fast-track reserves certification,” Pure said.
The company is aiming to demonstrate both the distribution and economic viability of CSM production in the mature coal-mining Tasmanian Basin, which holds significant coal resources.
The tenement covers 11,295km and has existing commercial infrastructure, including the Tasmanian Gas Pipeline and Transend electricity transmission system, running through it.
