The Berwyndale South-21 well has become the third well in the program to free flow gas above 1 million cubic feet per day on production testing.
During a three-hour production test yesterday, Berwyndale South-21 flowed between 1 million and 2.5 million cfd of gas.
QGC managing director Richard Cottee said this latest result demonstrated the production capability of the Berwyndale South gas field.
“This well is located close to the other two high-performance wells at Berwyndale South and has benefited greatly from the extraction of water during pilot production testing,” Cottee said.
In mid-January, record gas flows of 2.3 million cfd were achieved at Berwyndale South-18, while 1.3 million cfd flowed at Berwyndale South-16 in early February.
In the past week, daily average flow rates of 712,100 and 801,000 cubic feet have been achieved respectively from these wells following 10 days of continuous testing.
Berwyndale South-21 will also be completed as a free-flowing production well using specially designed equipment, QGC said.
As with wells 18 and 16, the capital and operating cost for this well will be significantly lower than wells requiring pumping equipment, it said.
QGC holds a 90% interest in PL 201 (Berwyndale South) in partnership with Sentient
Gas Australia (10%).
